Young Adult Carers

In recognition of the fact that younger adult carers (aged 18 - 25*) find it difficult to get the kind of help and support they need, the Borders Carers Centre offers a bespoke, dedicated service.   We have the skills, knowledge, passion and expertise to really make a difference.

Andrea will specifically focus on the following activities:
Support with caring
We will help you & those you care for to access health and social care support to reduce the burden of caring and plan for the future.
Carers Support Plan
We will offer every Young Adult Carer a Carers Support Plan.
Education, employment and training
We will offer ongoing support and advice to enable you to move on to further your own personal development.  We passionately believe that by considering these aspects alongside your caring role we will ensure the best outcomes and support for you personally.
Advocacy
We will accompany you to meet college staff, employers or other agencies to explain your needs, so that they can understand the demands placed on young adult carers.
Financial Assistance
We will help source additional funding for individuals to assist you to engage in training, employment or further education (eg: driving lessons etc)

Monthly online virtual support group

From 19th February, we will be holding online virtual support groups.  We plan to use these sessions as a safe place to iscuss caring, and other issues, as well as a chance to have some fun and get involved in activities.
