Time to Live Fund for Carers
As a carer, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £300 to help you get away and unwind.
Funded by The Scottish Government and administered by Shared Care, Time to Live provides support to carers to get a break from caring.
You can decide what type of break you want to take, for example it might be a weekend away, therapy sessions or an activity. Please be specific. The maximum TTL grant awarded is £300. You may not be eligible for the full amount. To apply for a TTL grant you must meet certain conditions and apply through Borders Carers Centre.
Find Out More About Funding and Grants
You can apply for TTL grant for a short break if you live in the Scottish Borders and:
you are an unpaid carer, inclusive of Parent Carer, Young Carer, Young Adult Carer
you are a young carer (up to the age of 18) who cares for children or adults
you haven’t had a TTL grant within the last 18 months.
Time to Live can’t be used:
• for breaks that should be provided by statutory services
• for breaks that have already been booked or taken
Please consider there may be other or more appropriate grants available to you if you have been in the Armed Forces.

Should your application be approved by the panel we will make contact with you. We will request your bank details at this stage and inform you of the date you can expect payment to your account via bank transfer.
The panel’s decision is final.


Short Breaks and Time Out
For many, caring is a very rewarding experience, however, it can also be tiring and stressful. Short breaks are one way of helping you to cope with the day to day responsibilities of being a carer.
Respitality
Respitality Scotland aims to connect local organisations that support unpaid carers with hospitality and leisure providers, such as hotels, leisure clubs, activity centres etc.
The Borders Carers Centre have signed up as Respitality Delivery Partner in partnership with Shared Care Scotland.
